With 6 or 7 weeks left to the end of the semester, I feel like its going to be a real photo finish. This month has so far been pretty tough, but then again October usually is. Exams, midterm projects, the height of the marching band season - they all seem to culminate and make October suck.

TJ has been progressing reasonably well. However after competing in the Bands of America Towson regional, then going back to TOB...I find myself annoyed by marching band. It's probably a culmination of too many long weekends, the frustration of numbers, the stress of school, and other things. Coming up next weekend is Chapters, which are at Liberty. I'm pretty happy with the fact there will be no driving back from Pennsylvania at overly late times of the night.

I've finally adjusted to commuting to school, working, teaching, and schoolwork. I don't particularly miss living in Courtyards, as this house is much nicer. I do, however, miss the conveniences of living right across the street from campus. Living 10 to 15 minutes away from campus in no traffic, and an hour in rush hour traffic kinda sucks.

I also got a promotion at work, I'm now a 'student supervisor' at the ticket office. a little more money and a little more responsibility. Alright with me I suppose.

end of summer...

I really should learn to manage my time a little better...
I should be back from Nags Head late tomorrow/early saturday. After that:
1. Move all furniture needed to live at new house, into new house
2. Try to put in 40 hours at Blockbuster
3. work 3 shifts at the Ticket Office
4. teach Monday and Wednesday night
5. make new house livable before school starts

This whole month is seeming to disappear before my eyes. The first two weeks were TJ's band camp. It was two weeks very well spent, I am really looking forward to this season. I feel like we were beginning to hit a well, but I think the kids we have are good enough to fight their way through. As I said, I am very excited about this year.

I'm really actually kind of excited for the start of the semester. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere again, I guess. I don't know what it is. I think maybe I just enjoy being way too busy. Class and classwork, Work, Teaching, all the driving, the non-stop everything...I don't know, I guess I just enjoy it. And, I really just need something to keep my mind busy right now.

Anyways, In preparation for travel, I came across this:
www.trafficland.com

you can view any traffic camera, in a surprisingly large number of places. Check it out, I thought it was interesting.

a bit of R&R

So this is my first night in the Outer Banks, and it's pretty nice. After a summer of working 40-50 hour weeks between 2 jobs and teaching, this is going to be a nice getaway.

There is a big meteor shower tonight. There's not a lot of light pollution here, like there is around D.C. I spent a good 3 hours sitting out and stargazing and watching the shower, it's been real relaxing...I should probably do it much more often. My extended family is down here, so there's been lots of relaxing and drinking with the aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

This is going to be a good week, with nothing to do.

first post in the new blog

So...I decided to make a new blog, for no specific reason. I suppose I was tired of livejournal, it seems rather outdated. It's not like I really posted a lot in the past, but I thought I would try something new. Hopefully, I'll write something with a bit more substance here soon.
